Providence is also home to the oldest mall in America, the Arcade built in 1828. In 1999, a brand new mall opened downtown at Providence Place, offering three levels of upscale shopping at over 150 boutiques and specialty shops, along with a cinema, IMAX theatre, and several full-service restaurants. Other hot spots for shopping in Providence include Wickenden Street, where visitors can find art galleries, antiques, and cafes, and Thayer Street, where Brown University students frequent trendy clothing shops and book stores. Also emerging is Providence's burgeoning "West Seven" district located along the Westminster Street corridor.
