PUENTE

A block from Rising Sun Mills at 60 Valley Street, the 100,000 sq ft former Providence Bleaching, Dyeing & Calendaring Mill Complex will become a vibrant mixed use center and the cornerstone of a holistic response to Olneyville's creative community re-development.

To accomplish this, Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse is partnering with PUENTE, an Olneyville-based independent non-profit organization. PUENTE, which means "bridge" in Spanish, was founded by neighborhood residents in the fall of 2002 to link the redevelopment of the Rising Sun Mill, in Olneyville, Rhode Island, with sustainable support for the local community before, during and after the development.

We envision a dynamic tenant mix and are planning to have below market rate rental housing and live-work space, daycare, office and work space for businesses, non-profits, designers and artists, gallery space, food and beverage service, and community meeting space. Commercial rental space will be available on a sliding scale based on business size and revenue.

PUENTE is committed to rigorous community participation in this development, including community hiring and also to a sustainable and green building. Please feel free to contact us and get involved in this very exciting opportunity. To find out more about PUENTE and its other programs visit PUENTE's website: www.puenteprovidence.org.

Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse moved forward on plans to redevelop the 300,000 square foot Rising Sun Mill, they committed themselves to generating opportunities, born out of the redevelopment, for the entire community. After some consideration, the RSM Joint Venture made available a unique opportunity—that a non-profit could cultivate, manage and run a portion of the development for the community of Olneyville and all its residents.
