PUENTE

A block from Rising Sun Mills at 60 Valley Street, the 100,000 sq ft former Providence Bleaching, Dyeing & Calendaring Mill Complex will become a vibrant mixed use center and the cornerstone of a holistic response to Olneyville's creative community re-development.

To accomplish this, Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse is partnering with PUENTE, an Olneyville-based independent non-profit organization. PUENTE, which means "bridge" in Spanish, was founded by neighborhood residents in the fall of 2002 to link the redevelopment of the Rising Sun Mill, in Olneyville, Rhode Island, with sustainable support for the local community before, during and after the development.

The Plant at 60 Valley Street has become a sustainable project in its own right, housing space for a second Cuban Revolution location as well as offices, shared work spaces and small studio residences. With the affordable loft residences at Calender Mills as well, the three Valley Street mill redevelopments offer a diverse mix of office, retail and residential space that the Olneyville neighborhood needed.
